Let's flash back a little, way back to the 70s.

There is a company called Holiday Magic, before Amway comes into picture.

Holiday Magic started in Malaysia in 1973. The founder is Bill Cox. My dad was also involved as a distributor of Holiday Magic.

Not many people heard of this name, but I believe those people during my dad's time will know. Holiday Magic closed in 1974. Only 1 year in operation.

Holiday Magic is from the U.S., dealing with Cosmetics Products, more to skincare. They have cucumber paste in a bottle, avocado in a bottle and there are also products, all made of fruits in a tube, just like our toothpaste tube.

They have a Buy Up Plan. Buy Up meaning buying in bulk, buying in a large sum, a lot of money involved. There are some MLM companies nowadays practicing this method, Buy Up.

Holiday Magic training is terrific, they catch you and throw you to the sea. Can you swim? They make you struggle and try to survive! They use brain storming technique in their training program. They brain wash all their distributors.

The highest level position or ranking in the compensation plan is called General, and the lowest level position is called Holiday Girl. 

The General will buy the products and sell them to their downlines (their lower position), who will then sell to their downlines. The product does not go to the end user (customer). The products is moving within the distributors, downwards. The General can sell to customers, but they normally sell to downlines/distributors.

Holiday Girl is the only position who is actually searching for customers and do the selling. Holiday Girl are not allowed to recruit until they achieve a certain number of sales volume and goes up to a certain level position. 

Why is Holiday Magic is not known? Because at that time, nobody recognize Holiday Magic as a MLM company. It is considered as Direct Selling Company.

In 1975, Amway is registered and known as a MLM (Multi-Level Marketing Company)

Melaleuca – The Wellness Company

Started in 1985 with 24 years track record. CEO : Frank L. VanderSloot.

On 1st February 2010, Malaysia joined with the other 15 countries, with its first store in Menara UOA, Bangsar.

Melaleuca Malaysia products were officially sold on 1st March 2010 due to an overwhelming response.  

Membership is RM70. A member in Melaleuca is called Marketing Executive. You will receive a Business Kit, other literature, including subscription of Melaleuca monthly publication. RM50 is required if you do not wish to purchase a Business Kit.

Melaleuca offers a wide range of products. If you look at The Exclusive Wellness Catalog, you will notice the 4 symbols – Safer for your home, Healthier, Environment (Gentler on the environment) and Better Value Ingredients. This is to show that Melaleuca emphasized on delivering safer, greener, healthier and better products.

Melaleuca called themselves a Consumer Direct Marketing Company. They emphasized on changing the way you shop from supermarkets and grocery shops to shopping with Melaleuca. No new money, simply switch stores.

As a Marketing Executive, your income derives from the calculation of Product Points from your organization each month.

Minimum monthly Product Points Production required for Marketing Executive is 35. Director, Senior Director, Executive Director and Corporate Director position is 55 Product Points.

There are certain qualifications you need to achieve, when you reach certain rank or position in this business. There are also monthly organization Product Points required, as low as 1,000 product points as a Director II, to as high as 250,000 product points in the highest rank, that is Corporate Director. Organization Commission paid is from 7% for 2 generation in Marketing Executive position, 3 generations for Marketing Executive II, 4 generations for Marketing Executive III and for Director position upwards, 7% for 7 generations.

Let's look at some of the products, pricing and product points.

Attain (TM) Shake Milk Chocolate – product points 9, Regular Price RM130.00, PC Price RM90.00.

Clear Power (TM) Glass Cleaner 473ml – product points 3, Regular Price RM35.00, PC Price RM23.00.

Alloy (TM) for Men, Cologne 65ml – product points 12, Regular Price RM175.00, PC Price RM119.00.

Envia Nature's Salon (TM) Ultra Hydrating Shampoo 355ml – product points 7, Regular Price RM59.00, PC Price RM39.50.

There are Preferred Customers who shops at Melaleuca for their household item. They receive a 30%-40% discount on every product whenever they shop at Melaleuca. As a Preferred Customer, you agree to purchase a 35 product points each month, that is about RM195 to RM200. Each month you shop for 4 to 7 items you need for your home. When you shop at Melaleuca, remember that you are not spending more. You actually buy these items every month from some other shops anyway. So this is call switching stores or redirecting the way you spend.

Different people have different levels of understanding in MLM. I have been an MLM distributor and also has been in the MLM Management since 19th July 1975.

The BEST MLM plan will have these  criteria mentioned below:

1. Make sure the company doesn't sell "lots" or "centers"

2.Any commisions earned MUST be paid ON THE SPOT, IN CASH, daily.

3.They must have a small monthly maintenance which is below Rm20.00

4.They have a trial period of 90 days.

5.A REAL TIME, 24 hours. world wide.

6.They must SHOW PROOF  for whatever they tell you.

7. NEVER BELIEVE when they  say the company IS GOING TO….blah..blah..blah…

8. NEVER choose a " Breakaway System"

This is the car my dad was driving back then, Mazda 808, before he achieved his Car Program in his Shaklee Business.

The Car Program or some may named it, Car Fund was not offered by all MLM companies. Some of the MLM Companies, to name a few, such as, Shaklee, Century Diamond, Nutrimetics, Tiens, Zhulian are those companies offering Car Fund as part of their incentives in their Marketing Plans.

On your left, is my younger brother, with me. I would like to wish him a Very Happy Birthday. Photo was taken in our grand auntie's house.

This was the car, Proton Saga 1.3 Megavalve, which my dad achieved in his Shaklee Car Program in year 1991. Many of his downlines achieved their Car Program too and their car registration plates are mixtures of these numbers 1,2,3, and 8. 

Today, car dealers are taking in old cars for scraping purpose and we decided to take that opportunity and change to a new car. Thank you for serving us for 18 years and yesterday we let it go!

Welcome to a new member of the family, here is, Perodua Myvi. For your info, this is not a Car Program,ok. My younger bro had his Myvi very much earlier. 

Some MLM companies giving cars for free when you hit a certain target set by the company. What you have to do is just get into the car and drive. Some companies will be paying for your car instalments when you achieve a certain group sales according to the Marketing Plan. If you don't achieve that group sales for that particular month, then you will have to pay it yourself. There are companies that offers different cars for different level of sales target achieved. Most of the cars offered by MLM companies are luxurious, such as Mercedes, BMW, Volvo, Honda Accord and Toyota Camry.

I was invited by my friend to attend a Testimonial Talk by Dr. Okimi from Japan on Health.

Surprisingly, Dr. spoke very well English, Mandarin and he's Bahasa is not bad at all. He's got that sense of humour during the 3 hour talk and I enjoyed it. He said Prevention is Better Than Cure, which many would agree but do nothing with it. Health or personal well being is all about the food that we consume everyday, the lifestyle, and the environment that makes us who we are today.

I was impressed on the explanation on the video of a comparison of a clean colon and a dirty colon. We saw the inside of the colon. It was disgusting.

I think I got the permission to capture this beautiful staff photo to put into my blog. This is the range of Wellness Concept products. After the talk, we had a light refreshments and I tried the BarleyGreen drink. I am the only one who ask and tried the drink. Its not sweet nor bitter, but its easy to drink.

This evening, I met a new friend who showed to me his MLM business. I am not aware of the him coming to see us, not aware that he wanted to show his business too.

He did a short presentation to me on Amway. He emphasized on shifting or change the way you shop from supermarket to shopping with Amway. At the same time you are building a network of consumers and building your MLM business with 10 types of income in 1 business, in Amway Marketing Plan.

He knew the concept of Multi-Level Marketing well and how to go about it. We exchanged views and share knowledge at the same time.

The above blue magazine, is the latest Amway Amagram for month December 2009, with the front page of their new HQ in Petaling Jaya.

Cosway has been around for more than 20 years and it was one of my first MLM company I joined when I began my working life.

My parents have tried to apply for a stockist way back then, but unfortunately they failed. You know, my dad, he doesn't gives up in MLM that easily. He moved on.

Today, Cosway is offering the similar opportunity to own a business of your own. I asked around, emailed and also put up posts on my blog to look for someone who wanted to join venture with me in starting a cosway stockist. One of the criteria is the applicant must be female age between 25 -44 years old. But until today, I couldn't get anyone who is interested.

A couple of week ago, my friend was asking me about the Cosway opportunity. She took the opportunity and she is going for the interview and I wish her all the best.

Two days back, another old friend of mine, didn't meet her for quite a while, also talking about Cosway business to me. She is going to start her journey in Network Marketing which she has never done before. She told me "I am going to start networking"

I said "That's GREAT!"

I think with the help of her brother, who has a wide network, it shouldn't be a problem for her. I wish her all the best and encourage her to start immediately.
