Sleep well for good health

Life No Comments »

Hello everybody,

” How was your sleep last night? “

Do you have beautiful / nice dreams or bad nightmares? Do you know how to sleep well?

If you are having bad dreams (nightmares), and you awake in the middle of the night and then can’t get back to sleep, you won’t be having a good day the next morning. You will feel tired and sleepy all day, in other words stress related insomnia.

Sleep is important to us. It helps us to relax ourselves, our mind and our body, makes our system rest and makes us work/perform better the next morning.

We have 24 hours in a day. Some say that it’s divided into 3 parts, that is 8 hours of work, 8 hours of free/leisure time, 8 hours of sleep. Unfortunately, in today’s fast paced modern lifestyles, we sleep lesser and lesser. We made a promise to ourselves to sleep earlier than last night, but we just couldn’t.

There are people who suffer from getting a good night sleep for a long period of time, due to stress at work, and some other factors which disturbing the mind, and discomfort body, feeling anxiety, suffer from depression, etc. In this scenario, medication, physical exercises, body message, physiotherapy, communication & moral support among friends & family, will come to play.

The fact is that no matter you are a marathon runner, you workout in a gym, you are a non-smoker, living a stress-free lifestyle, you are the “eat good healthy food” person, you will still suffer the consequences of getting less-than- adequate sleep in the form of a heart attack at a young age.

A person recently died, after 11 days of no sleep as he attempted to watch every game in the European football championship. He may be in good health, but staying up through the night and not sleeping enough, will weaken his immune system plus drinking and smoking while watching football.

Who would have thought of that, how we sleep could turn out to be risk factor of coronary artery, as important as the risk of smoking to high blood pressure? Sleeping is indeed important.

Lack of sleep, for example, lesser than six hours a night, will relate to an increased risk of getting high blood pressure, by 350% up to 500%, compared to those who sleep more than six hours a night. This is no exception to young people 25-49 years of age, as they are twice as likely of getting it, if they sleep less. Individual who sleep less than five hours a night had a threefold increased risk of heart attacks.

Another scientific studies documented the following :

Middle-aged women who slept for five or fewer hours a night had a higher chance of suffering heart attacks than those who had a good eight hours of sleep.

If one completely lack of sleep or partial lacking of sleep, the blood concentrations of C-reactive protein will increased, which is the strongest predictor of heart attacks and other substances that reflect active inflammation. Even after getting adequate sleep later, the levels stayed high.

In just one night of sleep loss increases toxic substances in your body that increases risks of many illnesses, including arthritis, cancer and heart disease.

If you sleep less than six hours per night and have disturbed sleep, you had 48% greater chance of developing or dying from heart disease and a 15% greater chance of developing or dying from a stroke, according to Professor Francesco, who co-authored a report published in European Heart Journal. The trends of late nights and early mornings is actually a ticking time bomb for our health. So you and I need to act now and change, to reduce the risk of developing life-threatening conditions.

A few basic good, dos and don’ts sleeping habits, we could follow :

Go to bed and get up at the same time everyday, use your bed only for sleeping, go easy or consume less on alcohol and coffee, minimise the intake of nicotine and caffeine, exercise regularly in the morning or late evening, don’t do any mind thinking activities before bedtime, listening to soft, relaxing soothing music before bed.

You are health conscious, you may be fit, you may seems to do everything right, but getting only four to five hours of sleep every night, will get you into trouble. You should be getting more sleep!

Sleeping / resting is important after one whole day of work. We need enough rest to begin again the next day.

” Wish you Goodnight, sleep tight and sweetdreams. ”   ^_^

What is this man doing in the middle of the road?

Can you see a cigarette he is holding?

This guy in his shorts and slippers, under the hot sun, walking around for a cigarette. He goes from one car to the other, while all these drivers are waiting at the traffic lights.

Some drivers do smoke, but are not willing to give him a stick, afraid he might attack them. But he is harmless, he just want to smoke, that's it.

He came towards me, and he did ask from me, showing fingers sign, unfortunately I don't smoke, so he didn't manage to get it from me. I used to see him some time ago, then he is gone. Now, he is back….again.

When the lights turn green, he will be sitting by the roadside until another fleet of cars comes, and he goes on asking until he get a stick.

Hey guys, guess what will he do after he finally got a cigarette?

. . . He will now go around for someone, who has a lighter. He mission now, is to go again from one car to another for a lighter.

At times, he only got a cigarette. Sometimes, he is lucky enough to get his cigarette and someone kind enough to light it up for him.

I like his attitude of never giving up, he knows what he wants, and keep asking.

Failure is nothing to him, he just keep on asking, asking and asking.

Hopefully, someone out there, would offer him a job, or give him something to do, make him earn his money. At least he could earn a living, rather than wandering around, could knock down by a car.

What can we buy today?

Life No Comments »

Took out coins and place on the table… Macha – ” Roti Telur, minum…hmm.. Nescafe Nipis Tarik … Tarik.. ah ! “

As he placed my food on the table, I asked “Berapa?” (How much). He replied : “Tiga, Dua” (Three, Twenty)

Oh.. forgotten to take the photo of the food before I begin, guess I was hungry….Luckily I haven’t finish it! This is what I get, This is my breakfast for Three, Twenty.

I believed, roti canai was around 50 cents, those days? and a glass of teh tarik or nescafe would be around 20 or 30 cents?

Nowadays, with so many cafe and franchise outlets coffee places, you would get a simple white coffee from 3.20, 3.50 or 3.80 a cup. Not having anything to munch yet, toasted bread would cost you 1.60 up to sandwich 5.90, a plate of fried rice would cost you probably 7.90, 9.90, noodle about 6.90, for example. At the end of the day, you know how much you will be paying.

What would you be getting with 3.20 in near future? If the cost of things increases 6 to 8 times, will our income/salary increases 6 to 8 times? Many things are going up, the cost to send your children to further their education, Medical expenses, Fuel, many more.

If we stay with what we have, doing nothing with it, we will be facing trouble!

Buying Time

Life, People No Comments »

Hello once more…

All of us have equal time frame, 24 hours a day.

We have got a job, our personal life, we are responsible for our daily chores, and there is no way to get everything done. Buy yourself some time, is to delegate your chores, hire some one to do some task, and learn to cut corners. Buy time is to save time.

Let's talk about our daily life. For those travel by car, as we park our cars, what are we suppose to do?

Scratch parking tickets, either for half an hour or an hour, and place it on your dashboard.

After you have done your tasks, maybe banking transaction, meeting your friend, shopping, buying your groceries, etc, then you move on. Sometimes, you will not feel at ease, while you are doing your things. If the 1/2 hour or 1 hour is over, you will run to your car to scratch a new parking ticket.

We are actually buying time. You buy 1/2 hour or 1 hour, to do your thing. If you don't scratch your tickets and place it on your dashboard, or you have exceeded the time frame of the ticket, you will get a summon, a penalty – another ticket for you to pay.

Are we not actually buying time? buying the time of our lives, buying our own time.

The definition of  "buy" is to get/purchase something, to obtain something.

We are spending and losing time each day, but we are buying time!

After we have scratched those tickets, it can't be used anymore, and we threw them away to the dustbin.

By the way, these are prepaid tickets, pay before use. Make sure you put them in your car, If you misplace them, you will have to buy again.

Can we abolish this parking tickets method and save more trees? Let us park our cars, do our activities at ease, and drive on, move on with our lives.

Nowadays, we are talking about saving the environment, throw rubbish into appropriate recycle bins- bottles, cans and paper bins. Less trees, more heat. Don't you feel the heat these days?

When trees cut down to expand land, trees will let out the carbon dioxide that has been stored upon the photosynthesis process. Each particle of carbon dioxide released to the air adds to the greenhouse gases, and result to global warming.
